Employability Skills

At Carrickfergus Enterprise, supporting people into employment has been at the heart of our work since 1981. Established in response to the closure of major employers in Carrickfergus and the resulting rise in unemployment, our organisation was founded to provide local people with the employability skills, training and support needed to secure meaningful work. More than 45 years later, that mission continues to drive everything we do, helping individuals across Carrickfergus and Mid and East Antrim develop the skills, confidence and qualifications they need to succeed in today’s changing labour market.

Our employability programmes are designed to help people of all ages and backgrounds move closer to employment, self-employment or further training. Through funding from the Mid and East Antrim Labour Market Partnership, we have successfully delivered two Tourism Academies and a Hospitality Taster programme, providing participants with practical industry knowledge alongside recognised qualifications, including First Aid, Food Safety and WorldHost customer service training. Every programme offers personalised, wrap around support, combining one-to-one employability coaching, confidence building and peer support to help participants recognise their strengths, identify suitable career pathways and prepare for interviews, job applications and the workplace. By working in partnership with employers and local stakeholders, we ensure our training reflects current industry needs, creating real opportunities for people to progress into sustainable employment and contribute to the growth of the local economy.

We are committed to continuing to deliver employability and skills programmes that respond to the needs of local people and employers, with further opportunities planned in the future. Whether you’re looking to build your confidence, gain recognised qualifications, change career, return to work or explore self-employment, Carrickfergus Enterprise is here to support your journey.
